founder of Me and Me
When my son was born, my life changed completely and I decided to make a change in my career and focus on doing something that would truly enthusiasm me and worth to do. I wanted to be able to improve the lives of others by contributing with my grain of salt through cosmetics, a world that I knew perfectly …
After finishing my pharmacy studies at the University of Valencia, the René Descartes University in Paris and going through different multinationals in the dermocosmetic sector in New York and Paris, I began to develop a deeper image of how a woman’s skin works in all stages of her life and her real needs.
Going through the experience of pregnancy and motherhood led me to create a line specially designed to accompany the motherhood of women like me; conscious mothers who value what they use on their skin during pregnancy, breastfeeding and perhaps the rest of their lives.
Today, as the founder of Me and Me, I have the privilege of accompanying many women and their babies in their first 1000 days, which are key moment to both their biological and emotional development. Therefore, from honesty and respect for all their decisions as mothers, I will continue to evolve with them to offer them the best that biotechnology and cosmetics can give to their skin, in the most sustainable, respectful and effective way possible.
Because to value the skin during motherhood as it does Me an Me is to value our role as mothers and the lives of our children.
I Pasteur Prize in Medicine, Pharmacy and Biomedical Research
The European Association for Economics and Competitiveness (AEDEEC), based in Brussels, awarded Sonia Almela the 1st Pasteur Prize for Medicine, Pharmacy and Biomedical Research, in recognition of her work as a biopharmaceutical specialized in cosmetics and skin care.
This prestigious award recognizes the vocation of public service and commitment to society in a segment as essential as the world of health, science and research, recognizing the trajectory of institutions and professionals who have dedicated their activity and talent to the benefit of everyone.
Receiving the Pasteur Prize is a recognition that after so many years of work has been one of the greatest satisfactions of my professional career.
I grew up in a family linked to medicine and health; father doctor and mother teacher and nurse, an education based on rigor, curiosity and the wonder of learning.
Me and Me is a very personal project that represents the values of women and science with great awareness for the world and for society.
The world is full of women linked to science whose inspiration and work serve us all as models and encourage the rest of us to continue in this field of study, which is not only a challenge, but a fact of what women contribute the world more and more strength. We are all aware that female role models have a great influence in advancing the empowerment of women from girls.
It is becoming increasingly clear to me that together we can make things happen, change our lives, create a difference and overcome the challenges that make up a change in society.
I have a son and the legacy I would like to leave him is a much more conscious world in which women occupy the place they deserve in science.
